Comprehensive Alcohol Testing with Detailed Insights into Consumption and Health

Overview of the Test

The Alcohol Profile is a comprehensive blood test assessing alcohol consumption and its impact on health. It measures key markers, including: Blood Alcohol Level, Liver Function, MCV, CDT, PEth, providing insights into recent and long-term alcohol use. Results are delivered securely within 5–7 working days, making it ideal for personal, workplace, or legal requirements.

Why It Would Be Used

This test is designed for individuals needing precise analysis of alcohol consumption and its effects:

  • Legal and Workplace Compliance: Suitable for court-ordered tests or occupational health requirements.
  • Health Monitoring: Understand how alcohol impacts liver function and overall health.
  • Personal Reassurance: Gain detailed insights into your alcohol consumption for personal reasons.

Our accredited laboratory ensures reliable results for any requirement.

Included Tests

The Alcohol Profile includes the following:

  • Blood Alcohol Level: Measures the amount of alcohol in your bloodstream.
  • Liver Function Test (LFT): Assesses liver enzyme levels affected by alcohol use.
  • Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV): Detects changes in red blood cell size from chronic alcohol use.
  • Carbohydrate-Deficient Transferrin (CDT): Identifies excessive alcohol consumption over 1-2 weeks.
  • Phosphatidylethanol (PEth): A highly sensitive marker for alcohol intake up to 4 weeks prior.

This comprehensive approach ensures detailed insights into recent and habitual alcohol use.

Period of Detection

The Alcohol Profile provides a snapshot of both recent and longer-term alcohol consumption:

  • PEth detects alcohol use up to 4 weeks prior.
  • CDT reflects heavy consumption over the past 2–3 weeks.
  • Blood Alcohol Level measures current alcohol levels.

This makes it suitable for both short-term and long-term consumption analysis.

Proof of ID Requirement

To ensure compliance and accuracy, you must bring valid photo ID (e.g., passport or driving licence) to your appointment. This step ensures traceability and legal validity.

Please note that copies of IDs or those shown on mobile phones are not accepted.

How it works

1. Please enter the name(s) and date of birth(s) of the person(s) taking the test at the top of the page. These details are essential to uniquely identify your sample by the laboratory and you will be unable to proceed further without them.

2. Pay online by credit or debit card.

3. Initially, you will receive an automatic reply to confirm that we have received your instructions.

4. Your test request will then be processed between 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Once processed, you will receive a text message and email to confirm that you can now attend Patient Reception to have the test. Please wait for this confirmation before making your way to Patient Reception, otherwise they will be unaware that you will be attending.

5. You can attend Patient Reception at any time during opening hours of 7am-7pm, Monday-Friday, and 7am-1pm on Saturday. It is closed on Sundays and Public Holidays. The only exception is for Chain of Custody tests as these need an appointment.

7. Make sure to bring an original photo ID such as a passport or driving license. A copy or phone image is not acceptable.

8. Results will be sent by email as soon as they are available.

Date of Birth Requirement

All laboratories need information regarding the client to identify their individual sample.

Tests cannot be done without these details.

You can enter these details securely above. Personal details are subject to GDPR according to our Privacy Policy. Alternatively, you can email these to us at: enquiry@drugtest.london

Drug and alcohol test results often need to be shown to courts or other agencies and must be valid.

Only a valid passport or driving license is accepted.

Originals must be shown. No copies or images on a phone.
